Hatchet 3: Hatchet 3 Horror Film is the third installment in the Hatchet film series. It chronicles the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.
Its practical special effects are the film's biggest strengths. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which heavily rely on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly practical makeup effect and sets--resulting in some truly horrific scenes throughout the movie.
The cast is strong and the lead actor Kane Hodder proving to be an intimidating villain. The dialogue is sufficiently campy and witty to feel like a movie review Hatchet 3 (2013) true 1980s slasher film at times. There are instances of humor in the movie which add humour to the bloody action.
Unfortunately, due to the limited budget (reportedly just $1 million) most of the locations are repeats from earlier films in the series. The same boat house was used two times within the movie and a lot of the film feels like it's been recycled from other films in this series. It can seem like it's all too familiar especially for people who've already seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2
Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable although it was like the previous entries in the series. It was filled with gory thrills as well as entertaining performances by the actors.
